Junior Software Developer
We are looking for a proactive entry level individual to maintain and upgrade our existing television production pipeline. The ideal candidate will propose and implement creative new ways of streamlining tasks for the production crew.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Development and maintenance of in-house web-based tracking system and production pipeline tools. These tools are used by our artists and management personnel to track the production of our television and interactive properties. They are integral for running a studio smoothly with minimal disruptions. As a developer you will be implementing and maintaining tools for scheduling, time tracking, and production tracking using the latest web standards.
- Planning and implementing software to accommodate the new challenges in upcoming studio projects. All production personnel use these tools to assist their creative processes; the software will automate repetitive tasks thus freeing up individuals to spend more time on their artistic roles. You will be creating scripts and tools for Autodesk Softimage as well as our render farm to assist the development and production process of our properties.
- Software and IT odd jobs. Nerd Corps is primarily an animation and online entertainment studio with an energetic software and IT team. We all wear various hats when things need to be done and we utilize all skills available. These things can range from setting up Windows and Unix-based servers to maintaining firewalls and mail, evaluating new software to be rolled out company-wide, or helping out with QA and testing on games made in the interactive department. You are guaranteed to be learning new skills and expanding your horizons with us!
Qualifications:
- Solid base programming skills with the ability to research and learn new methodologies and languages quickly.
- Skilled programmer in JavaScript, PHP, and C++.
- Demonstrates excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Understanding of modern database design and SQL. Experience with MySQL is preferred.
- Solid understanding of Web Standards (XHTML/CSS/DOM/AJAX).
- Familiarity with animation packages is a plus, preferably Autodesk Softimage (XSI) or Maya.
- Familiar with concepts in graphics programming.
- Must be responsible and accountable; enjoys managing a complex project with multiple parts.
- Good communicator who possesses strong written and oral communication skills especially when working with non-technical personnel.
- Ability to take direction well and execute on a project with limited supervision.
- Excellent time management skills and with good work ethics.
